Testing and inspections.
We carry out all tests and inspections on residential, commercial and industrial properties, with a lot of work for landlords, tenants and estate agents.
Our team has tested shops in most local high streets, factories and even an industrial estate: 128 fuseboards is our current record. If you are about to buy a house, check the installation first. It may only need a few pounds worth of work, or over a thousand.
EICR
Electrical Installation Condition Report. A test to assess the safety of an installation, previously called a PIR. It assesses the property, the connections and compliance with regulations.
EIC
Electrical Installation Certificate. Issued after major works, such as a new consumer unit (fuseboard) or large circuits installed from the board.
Minor works
Issued after minor works, such as changing a centre pendant to downlights or adding an extra socket in your kitchen.
LED lighting, properly guaranteed.
We wouldn’t fit anything but LED bulbs, lamps or fittings these days. They are typically 90% more efficient: for every £100 you spend running normal bulbs you spend around £10 on LEDs.
Lamps run for 30,000–50,000 hours, the equivalent of leaving the lights on for 5 hours a day, 365 days a year for around 20 years. We give a 5 year full warranty on almost all lamps, bulbs and fittings we supply and install.
The certificates for each test last different lengths of time. Commercial and industrial installations generally have shorter periods between recommended tests than homes, with a maximum of 10 years for residential housing in excellent condition.
